Australian truck drivers join the convoy for freedom

Australian truck drivers join the convoy for freedom. By Avi Yemini.

Australian truck drivers are planning a ‘Convoy to Canberra’ to protest Australia’s vaccine mandates and harsh restrictions forced upon communities across the country throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Truckies plan to meet in cities in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia before making their way to the nation’s capital.

Organized at very short notice, and without an immediate catalyst (the Canadian truckers were going to effectively lose their jobs if they didn’t get vaccinated), so don’t expect a huge turnout.

Beware: Australia had a big trucker protest in 2011, the “Convoy of No Confidence” against the carbon tax. The media gave it almost no coverage, despite big crowds in regional enters as the truckers converged on Canberra in multiple convoys from all over Australia.

2011

When the convoy got to Canberra, the convoy organizers cooperated with the police. But the police tricked them into taking a route through and around Canberra that disrupted no one and was seen by no one. Like it never happened.

These protests strike fear in the heart of the Establishment. A giant political PR machine is almost certainly swinging into gear to minimize everything about it. The media will downplay it, and hide it, as if people spending thousands of dollars and two weeks of their time is no big deal.

They will say it was “smaller than expected” or is “shrinking” (no matter how big it is). I hope the Truckers for Freedom have a team to count all the trucks, and film everything. They need to use every kind of social media they are “permitted” to.
