The Democratic Party Is Being Hijacked

The Democratic Party Is Being Hijacked. By Josh Gottheimer in The Free Press. Josh is a Democratic member of Congress.

This week, Abdul El-Sayed won Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary. …

Hate is being normalized in plain sight, and not just online. It has now manifested not only in elections, but also outside synagogues and Jewish-owned businesses. …

Dearborn, Michigan, home to the largest Arab-American community in the US, voted for Abdul El-Sayed by a wide margin. Mosque imams in Dearborn: “Oh Allah, kill every Jew, Christian, and American.”

From Piker on the socialist left to Tucker Carlson on the native-populist right, influencers with millions of followers now repackage age-old antisemitic conspiracies and tropes as edgy commentary. Add to that a Democratic Senate nominee in Maine with a Nazi tattoo, who dropped out of his race for other reasons, and it’s clear we have a crisis on our hands.

A new crop of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates in New York City have echoed the same poison, alternately refusing to condemn Hamas and accusing Israel of “genocide” and ethnic cleansing. This summer, the mayor of New York City, a proud member of the DSA, stood at a Brooklyn rally and proudly called a Jewish American organization, AIPAC, and its supporters “monsters” who move “millions in dark money” to “turn us against one another.” …

The socialist fringe is trying to hijack the Democratic Party, undermining its values, ideals, and leadership.

We must not let them. The stakes couldn’t be higher.

Making matters worse, America’s foreign adversaries are exploiting TikTok and other social media platforms to amplify every one of our divisions, then sprinkling in their own disinformation to drive the wedges even deeper. If you’re under 30, TikTok is likely your number-one source of news. China still influences that algorithm. They’re wielding it as a weapon, hand in glove with their close allies in Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

The results are showing up in the numbers. In a recent Harvard CAPS-Harris survey, asked whether they sided more with Israel or Hamas, 60 percent of voters between 18 and 24 chose Hamas. As a reminder, Hamas is a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization and enemy of the United States. That number is a result of a generation being radicalized in plain sight.

What’s most worrisome is not just the ignorance underlying so much of the heated, abusive, and violent anti-Jewish sentiment. It’s also the cowardly amplification and kowtowing by the political class. As a Democratic member of Congress, I can attest that for a growing number of my colleagues, being anti-Israel has now become a nonnegotiable moral litmus test. …

History teaches us that antisemitism is never the endpoint of hatred. When a society starts scapegoating any people, it’s an early warning sign that the whole system is starting to break down. The Jewish people may be the target today, but they will come for someone else tomorrow.

Bill Maher, leftie comedian but not crazy, let’s rip and threatens to jump ship:

Greg Gutfield, right wing comedian:

I resent having to debate over ideologies that have not only failed, but killed millions. That we’re having this discussion is offensive.

So I feel like we should leave this with the Democrats, you know, and focus not on articulating a message, but implementing the message that we have. Because if you think about it, all the major fronts, we’ve won.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali:

Today, 62 percent of Americans aged 18 to 29 hold a favorable view of socialism, and 34 percent of that same demographic view communism favorably. Ideas once discredited by famine and terror are finding new life among a generation too young to remember their consequences. History’s most devastating political failures are being repackaged as tomorrow’s solutions.

Americans across the political spectrum should be alarmed. …

Ideological movements that venerate Marx will eventually seek the absolute power required to enforce his theories. Utopian promises have always served as the gateway to authoritarian rule

Javier Milei:

I thought being on the left was a mental problem. the empirical evidence is so overwhelming that it never worked anywhere, and they refused to accept it.

But what I discovered is that being on the left is a disease of the soul. The left is built on envy, hatred, resentment, and unequal treatment under the law. They are very violent, and since they have no way or arguments to answer, they go for physical violence.

Australia usually follows the US after a few years, so we will see our university-indoctrinated young taking over the Australian Labor Party sometime soon with a push for communism and perhaps also Islamism? Perhaps not. Pre-selection votes in the ALP are held 50% by the unions, so our leftie kids would have to take over some unions first. They might have better luck taking over the Greens. Wait… isn’t that already happening?
