The Insane Bravery of Dr Coatsworth

The Liberals lost the last federal election; jockeying for preselection for normally safe Liberal seats has begun. We know this because next week there will be a soiree in the Fitzpatrick residence in the Perth seat of Curtin, at which a Dr Coatsworth, resident of Canberra, will:
“reflect on the erosion of conservative values during the pandemic — individual freedom, personal responsibility, and evidence-based policy — and discuss how to strengthen the nation by restoring those values”
This is all very amusing because Dr Coatsworth was Deputy Chief Medical Officer in the covid pandemic. He featured in TV advertisements hectoring Australians to be vaccinated.
While supposedly an infectious disease expert, he failed in that role because he did not predict that a vaccine for a corona virus wouldn’t work because corona viruses mutate too fast. This is something that the virology community has known for decades.
Dr Coatsworth is also a bit slow on the uptake. He had three covid vaccine shots before he realised they weren’t doing any good. His Wikipedia entry states that he refused to have a fourth shot. By then it was evident that the vaccinated had a higher rate of covid infection than the unvaccinated. Never mind the facts of the matter, refusing his fourth shot is being promoted as showing that Dr Coatsworth is an insanely brave rebel against medical tyranny. It is his chief qualification to be the next Liberal candidate for the seat of Curtin.
It is fitting that his host for the soiree, a Dr Fitzpatrick, runs an organisation that processes children for the NDIS, an organisation designed to convert Australians into helpless mendicants and become a permanent voting block for Labor.
People can reform though. It is possible that Dr Coatsworth is now a genuine believer in individual freedom. That is highly unlikely though, and we don’t have to risk having anything to do with him. The fastest way to individual freedom is to appoint the persecuted to run the departments that persecuted them, as per current US practice with the FBI and other agencies.
There are enough doctors in Australia who were persecuted by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) for being insufficiently enthusiastic about covid injections to run all the country’s medical regulatory agencies, medical schools, hospitals and so on. Only the Ahpra-persecuted have demonstrated the right combination of medical acumen and personal integrity to be taken seriously.
