Life Imitates Art: Obama Was The Manchurian Candidate

Governments run influence operations to degrade the economies and social cohesion of other countries.

For example, in recent years both the Russians and the Saudis have directed agitprop against the US fracking industry. They have successfully demonised something that is environmentally harmless, to the point that a couple of the candidates for Democratic nomination, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, have promised to ban it if they are elected as President. But neither Mr Sanders or Ms Warren would be able to explain exactly what is wrong with fracking, because there isn’t anything wrong with it.

The Russians have been running influence operations, on and off, in the United States for decades. In the 1960s and 1970s, both the Black Panthers and the Symbionese Liberation Army were Soviet-inspired creations, and funded by them through layers of proxies. The peak body for Soviet influence in the United States at the time was the Institute for Policy Studies. It still exists, unreconstructed as a sort of artifact of that time.

The Soviets didn’t use their own people on the ground for the logistic support. That was contracted out to Cuban intelligence, known as the Dirección General de Inteligencia (DGI) up to 1989 and the Dirección de Inteligencia (DI) after that. The KGB didn’t want to mix its psyops campaigns with its intelligence operations. Psyops, including agitprop, was the task of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union International Section, which certainly used KGB linkages, but the separation of asset operations was clear.

Saul Alinsky, godfather of the modern left

Saul Alinsky, famous for his 1971 book Rules for Radicals, made up the role of “community organiser” so that paid political operators could have a cover. One of the first of these was Rainer Baake, a West German communist straight out of high school in Germany who spent the years 1974 to 1978 in Chicago. Herr Baake no doubt provided a link to the KGB through East Germany’s Ministry for State Security.

Influence operations can return spectacular returns on investment. At some stage, the communists in Chicago and their Soviet funders must have lighted on young Barack Obama as their Trojan horse in the US political system. The decision to groom Obama may have been made in 1971, because that is when he was switched to a private school in Hawaii in fifth grade. That was the beginning of 16 years of private education in expensive schools and universities. There has been no interest in who paid for all that expensive schooling. It is hard to believe that a mediocre student with no work ethic kept winning scholarships to these places on his merits.

But we know that the press has no interest in reporting things that don’t support the narrative.

For example we have only been told recently, more than two years after the event, that President Trump had meetings with enlisted personnel, with no officers present, to get a feel for what was happening in Afghanistan. And that he had called Pentagon generals and State Department people “dopes and babies” in a 2017 meeting. Both those things were too positive about Trump to be reported at the time. They are only being told now because of Trump-exhaustion on the left.

All the years of private schooling and the three years of community organizing shielded Obama from the harsh realities of life as his handlers waited for him to grow up. He married a self-described “angry black woman” who promptly had a $300,000 per year position created for her at the University of Chicago Medical Center.  Her role had nothing to do with sick people: she was Vice President for Community and External Affairs.

Obama’s years of preaching a Sunday sermon at Jeremiah Wright’s church gave him plenty of experience in public speaking and hone his mellifluous tone. The Obamas bought their arugula from Whole Foods, not Walmart.

Obama has had too many instances of money being thrown at him for it just to be a whole lot of lucky breaks. Obama may have hated America as its President, hated the idea of America, and despised most Americans, but at least he wasn’t an ungrateful wretch. He was grateful to the Cubans. The Cubans of the DI had enabled his effortless progression. As with Angela Merkel in Germany, your path is made easier as a politician if you have a whole intelligence service supporting you.

To show his gratitude, Obama decided to normalize relations with Cuba. The main obstacle to this was Democrat Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey, with his large support base in the Cuban community. A strong campaign of “dirty tricks” was begun by the White House to force Menendez to resign the Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, a campaign which continued through the end of 2014.

This campaign was coordinated closely with the Cuban DI, at a time when the US was still legally in a state of hostility with Cuba. The DI has worked largely through cut-outs in the Dominican Republic, to create a rolling series of “scandals” supposedly involving Senator Menendez. For the most part, the scandals relied, in order to achieve media publicity, on a series of claims by Dominican Republic prostitutes that Senator Menendez had hired them, and then underpaid them.

These claims ensured that allegations of impropriety by the Senator were salacious enough to achieve prominent media coverage in the US. Even when they were disproven, or the testimony of the prostitutes recanted, the stain of opprobrium would stay with the Senator and be sufficient for the White House to distance itself from the Senator, and to approve Justice Department investigations and indictments of him for other alleged malfeasances.

When Hurricane Sandy devastated New Jersey and other parts of the US East Coast in the days before the Presidential election, Obama arranged to fly in to inspect the devastated area and win photo opportunities.

He successfully — and perhaps almost critically, in terms of the upcoming election — won the support of Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, but at the same time he literally ejected New Jersey Senator Menendez from the Presidential helicopter.

This was a significant and very public humiliation by President Obama of Senator Menendez, despite Menendez’ state Party machine delivering the votes for Obama.

But by then, Senator Menendez’s name had already been blackened. Other allegations, less salacious but more to do with legalities, could be “investigated” by shocked US Justice Dept. officials, working under Obama’s key enforcement ally, Attorney-General Eric Holder.

In other words, the White House engaged with Cuban Intelligence to create false “evidence” against a sitting, senior US elected official.

The bribery allegations case against Senator Menendez failed in the US courts on November 16, 2017, almost a year after Obama had left office, when the judge declared a mistrial. By January 2018, the courts had also thrown out several of the counts against Senator Menendez and his friend, Dr Saloman Melgen; and then on January 31, 2018, the Justice Dept. said that it would not attempt to seek a new trial against them.

In March 20, 2016, Obama became the first U.S. President to visit Cuba since 1928, to personally thank them for all their help.
