Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese honored as a ‘global citizen’ by the Atlantic Council in New York

 

Albanese has embarked on many things as prime minister that would meet with the UN’s approval.

He has, for example, allowed antisemitism to flourish in Australia, thanks to his Muslim vote by drawing equivalence with Islamophobia. And he has turned his back [with] abrogation and stonewalling. Even when forced to act, he has tried to appease the [UN] on Israel, a longstanding friend of Australia, by recognising Palestine.

He has expanded the welfare state to obscene proportions, while at the same time targeting self-made investors and playing to the animus of envy. He has massively increased the numbers of the Australian Public Service. He has signed up to the renewables fallacy in the name of addressing climate change — a phenomenon the late British prime minister Margaret Thatcher said provided “a marvellous excuse for worldwide, supranational socialism”.

He is a champion of divisive identity politics, having attempted but failed to embed a race-based lobby group in the constitution. Having long sought to sideline public criticism and curtail debate under the guise of combating misinformation and disinformation, he now claims he wants to protect us from online “harmful’’ content with his so-called Digital Duty of Care Bill — a proposal the US embassy in Canberra rightfully warned would amount to “facilitating censorship”.

Far from being unworthy of the honour, Albanese is everything the modern global citizen now stands for, and the UN is the ideal place for him to receive it.
