Hizb ut-Tahrir operatives have told a Sydney audience that the West sucks blood from humanity, that sharia law is the blueprint of a harmonious society, and that Islam is the only solution for “Muslims and non-Muslims alike”.

 

 

It comes amid mounting calls to ban the organisation, with Coalition’s home affairs spokesman Jonathon Duniam declaring the group’s controversial November conference in southwest Sydney should not have gone ahead, labelling it “simply unacceptable” that the federal government did not step in to stop it.

The group’s national conference, held just three weeks before the Bondi terror attack, puts further pressure on the Albanese government, which is facing calls to list Hizb ut-Tahrir as a terror group, as it has been in the UK. …

One of the speakers was cleric Mohamad Trad, the radical preacher who attracted notoriety in 2023 after calling for a Muslim army and an Islamic state with sharia law under a “final solution”. …

Oh no, not “hate speech.”

Hizb ut-Tahrir is deemed a terrorist organisation in the UK, Germany, India, Indonesia and many other countries, but Australia has been slow to outlaw the group — something Mr Burke said could soon change.

“No government has been able to ban them as they didn’t meet the violence threshold,” Mr Burke said.

So Mr Burke, this group has free speech, because they don’t actually commit violence, but the rest of us don’t? Is that because they’re Muslim? One rule for them, another rule for the rest of us?
