I’d like to see the current murder rates broken down into white and black. Just over half of all murders in the US are committed by black males, who are about 6% of the population. In a similar vein, US gun homicide rates for whites are similar to those in Europe or Australia, but US gun homicide rates for blacks are much higher, similar to rates in Africa.

As for the plunge in European murder rates over the last 700 years, it is well explained by natural selection. Europe and East Asia (e.g. China and Japan) started systematically executing murderers and locking away criminals a thousand years ago.
