Leftists are more individualistic and disloyal to their society, hence selfish, corrupt, authoritarian, decadent, and virtue-signaling. By Edward Dutton.

His style can be annoying, but the content is great, explaining an awful lot of our current state. Group oriented values are fading, while individualism, corruption and decadence are taking over. Personality studies show that leftists are weak in group-orientation, rightists are much more loyal to their group. I think you can see where this is going…the woke debacle explained.

Asabiyyah:

Asabiyyah is the concept of social solidarity with an emphasis on unity, group consciousness, and a sense of shared purpose and social cohesion …

The concept was familiar in the pre-Islamic era, but became popularized in Ibn Khaldun’s Muqaddimah, in which it is described as the fundamental bond of human society and the basic motive force of history, pure only in its nomadic form.

Ibn Khaldun argued that asabiyya is cyclical and directly relevant to the rise and fall of civilizations: it is strongest at the start of a civilization, declines as the civilization advances, and then another more compelling asabiyyah eventually takes its place to help establish a different civilization.

As a child I read of a ancient middle eastern raider’s leader being asked by his son. ” Why do we keep doing this to these cities when we could just take them over instead?” and his father replied, “Because if we do then we will become weak, and then we will be the raided.”

This helps explain why the only virtuous politicians I have known were all the way down at the local level, trying to better their town or county. It is much harder to disguise a completely self-serving nature when you must live and interact daily in the community you serve, the same place where you must maintain the reputation of yourself and your family. …

However, when you start claiming to represent the interests of the people at a national level or, God forbid, a global level, the accountability is often just not there, and the personal rewards of corruption are just too tempting.

In short, keep government small and local except for the obvious necessities like national defense, foreign diplomacy, etc.
