Neil Young has asked Spotify to remove all his music from its streaming platform in protest over vaccine conspiracy theories that have been broadcast by its most popular podcaster.
In a letter posted on his website, Young said he was asking his management to take “all of my music off their platform” in response to an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience.
“I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines — potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,” Young said, according to Rolling Stone. “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.” …
So Spotify is removing Young’s music.
Well, of course, Spotify should side with Joe Rogan. The person who makes an ultimatum like that should lose. It’s ridiculous. If that worked, there’d be an obnoxious celebrity throwing his weight around every day.
So much for “rocking in the free world,” Neil, you big jerk.
Streaming music service Spotify is in the process of removing Neil Young’s music, depriving tens of fans access to the 76-year-old’s song library on the platform.
Young, whose biggest hit, “Heart of Gold” came out 50 years ago, threw a temper tantrum earlier in the week over podcaster Joe Rogan, who the aging rocker says was spreading “fake information” about vaccines. …
