Satellite Temperature Data from Inventors of Method Now Demonetized by Google. By Dr Roy Spencer.
Roy Spencer and colleague John Christy invented satellite monitoring of the Earth’s temperature. At the University of Alabama in Huntsville, they process data from NASA satellites to produce the “UAH” global temperature series.

A few months ago Google announced they would be demonetizing climate skeptic websites. I was kind of hoping my content was mainstream enough to avoid being banned since:
- I believe the climate system has warmed
- I believe most of this warming is probably due to greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel burning
Many of you know that I defend much of mainstream climate science, including climate modeling as an enterprise. Where I depart of the “mainstream” is how much warming has occurred, how much future warming can be expected, and what should be done about it from an energy policy perspective.
From the information provided by Google about my violations, in terms of the number of ads served, by far the most frequented web pages here at drroyspencer.com with “unreliable and harmful claims” are our (UAH) monthly global temperature update pages.
This is obviously because some activists employed by Google (who are probably weren’t even born when John Christy and I received both NASA and American Meteorological Society awards for our work) don’t like the answer our 43-year long satellite dataset gives.
Nevermind that our dataset remains one of the central global temperature datasets used by mainstream climate researchers in their work.
Here is the real reason Google is moving against UAH:
This shows global temperature since the 1970s, according to the five main global temperature records.
The blue line is the UAH temperature data from NASA satellites, by Spencer and Christy, now demonetized by Google.
The HadCRUT, NOAA and GISTEMP lines are all estimates from the surface thermometers, which are widely rorted. They all process the same “raw” data slightly differently.
The RSS line is put together by a group friendly to the narrative (check who funds them), from the same NASA satellite data as UAH. But they deliberately include data that is known to be wrong (due to a faulty satellite), which causes a strong upward bias since 2000.
The RSS, GISTEMP and NOAA data only goes to about 2019 (I couldn’t be bothered updating them), but you get the point — the honest temperature dataset shows significantly less warming than the others. And it’s the one that is on the path to being censored by the activists at Google.

I have mentioned more than once that the UAH dataset is the only one I truly trust. I have mentioned how other sites doctored their data to give more warming.
