Sri Lanka has announced plans to ban the wearing of burqas and said it would close more than 1,000 Islamic schools known as madrassas, citing national security.
The minister of public security, Sarath Weerasekara … “In our early days, we had a lot of Muslim friends, but Muslim women and girls never wore the burqa, … It is a sign of religious extremism that came about recently. We will definitely ban it.” …
Muslims make up about 9% of the 22 million people in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan authorities will be roundly condemned as “Islamophobic” for this, despite the fact that Muslims continue to be perfectly free to practice Islam there.
There is abundant evidence of criminal activity committed by people with faces covered, and of jihad indoctrination and recruitment in madrassas.
Nevertheless, the left will continue to insist that Sri Lanka and all other non-Muslim countries must simply commit suicide rather than appear “Islamophobic.” Britain and others are happily complying.
Islam is a supremacist ideology that discriminates against non-Muslims. Which puts conspicuously Islamic clothing in much the same category as a t-shirt with “KKK” on it — offensive to some.
