Muslims complained Valley Butchers was mocking Islam with the prominent sticker, which included pictures of kangaroos and emus, at its Adelaide shopfront.
‘It pokes fun of a specific group of people based on religious belief. It is very intentional and obvious,’ the complaint read. ‘Jokes like this on a public shopfront perpetuate a culture of vilification towards religious minorities, that results in harm towards them.’
Valley Butchers defended the sign to the Advertising Standards Board as merely an answer to a frequently asked question.
‘The sign is only stating that we are not halal approved. In no way is it meant in a malice way,’ it said.
However, in a split decision, the [Advertising Standards Board] upheld the complaint, and noted the sign would have been fine if it was just one letter different.
‘Had the sign stated ‘Not Halal approved’ or ‘Unfortunately, non Halal’ this would be less likely to have been considered discriminatory or vilifying signage,’ it said.
Instead, it decided the sign was ridiculing of halal certification and that this was offensive and demeaning to ‘people who are of that faith or are of Muslim ethnicity’. …
The board also found the sign amounted to ‘inciting hatred or contempt’ against Muslims.
Valley Butchers edited the sign to say ‘not halal certified’ but is still facing legal action over the inclusion of the kangaroos and emus.
Islam is not an ethnicity, it’s a totalitarian ideology that includes a religion. Is it above any criticism or mockery? Why does our ruling class protect it so? Isn’t the crime of “Islamophobia” yet another branch of anti-white racism? Isn’t the above just more stomping out nationalism and pride in western civilization? Islam has been the deadly enemy of western civilization and Christians and Jews for 1,400 years. Do Muslims in the West vote almost entirely left? Ah, the great replacement and the new voters.
What about free speech? “Non-halal certified” is bad, but “Not-halal certified” is ok? Are they serious?
Including emus and kangaroos near the word “halal” is verboten?
Who elected the Advertising Standards Board? What right do they have to dictate what we can say? Who is responsible?
