Trump confidant Stone charged with lying about hacked emails

Trump confidant Stone charged with lying about hacked emails, by Eric Tucker.

President Donald Trump’s confidant Roger Stone was charged with lying about his pursuit of Russian-hacked emails damaging to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 election bid, with prosecutors alleging that senior Trump campaign officials sought to leverage the stolen material into a White House win.

The self-proclaimed dirty trickster, arrested by the FBI in a raid before dawn Friday at his Florida home, swiftly blasted the prosecution as politically motivated. In a circus-like atmosphere outside the courthouse, as supporters cheered him on and jeering spectators shouted “Lock Him Up,” Stone proclaimed his innocence and predicted his vindication. …

The seven-count indictment, the first criminal case in months in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, provides the most detail to date about how Trump campaign associates in the summer of 2016 actively sought the disclosure of emails the U.S. says were hacked by Russia and then provided to the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks. …

Stone is the sixth Trump aide or adviser charged by Mueller and the 34th person overall. …

Trump attorney Jay Sekulow said the indictment “does not allege Russian collusion by Roger Stone or anyone else.”

Just another process crime indictment. Again, Mueller indicts someone for peripheral matters, such as lying to him. Looks like a witch hunt.

Meanwhile, the selective enforcement stinks. The whole probe was started by the Steele Dossier, which has since been revealed to be fake, produced by an opposition-research company, and paid for by the Clinton campaign. No indictments there.

From the point of view of the left, if you own the bureaucracy and media then your lies are good and go unchallenged — but you can throw the opposition in jail for any inconsistencies.

Lion of the Blogosphere:

There’s absolutely nothing in this indictment about real crimes committed with respect to Donald Trump’s campaign. This is all about Mueller punishing anyone who is perceived as having helped Trump become President, and creating the perception for the public and the mainstream media and the Democrats in Congress that Trump is surrounded with criminals and thus Trump, by association, must be a criminal himself and should be impeached.

How the Mueller scam works is that people are made to FEEL guilty even though they didn’t commit any prosecutable crimes, so they spin things or tell what they think of as little white lies to put themselves in a better light, and then Mueller interprets that as lying or obstruction of justice.

Stone never should have voluntarily testified before Congress, and if he was subpoenaed then he never should have said anything besides “I invoke my Fifth Amendment right to remain silent.”

Given the Deep States persecution of Trump’s associates, who would want to work on Trump’s 2020 campaign?
