Future Trends: It only takes a minor PC infraction to be sacked, by Andrew Bolt.
This is all that [US tv host] Megyn Kelly said:
You do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface for Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a kid, that was okay just as long as you were dressing as a character.
For Kelly to then lose her NBC job suggests hysterical overreaction or the most cynical opportunism.
So much that has been written about Kelly’s comments is simply false. For a start, she did not defend dressing in blackface. Her comment above was to note a change in attitude.
And for some embittered colleagues to abuse her on air as “racist” suggests a get-square and a lot of hypocrisy — responding to her alleged rudeness with their very much more personal abuse…
Or was it because Kelly used to work for Fox News?
The left mob is dangerous.
Remember: As with so much about the modern left, the key is selectivity: selective reporting, selective outrage, and selective enforcement of laws. It’s not that the latest confected outrage against someone who threatens the PC canon is completely bogus — it usually has some merit, even if exaggerated — but that the same standards are not applied to those on the left.
If today’s left didn’t have double standards, it wouldn’t have any standards at all.
