Qatar looks elsewhere as Aussie sheep trade stalls, by Jenne Brammer.
Australia’s biggest live sheep buyer has turned to other countries to supply almost 80,000 sheep because the animal welfare row has disrupted trade.
Livestock Shipping Services livestock manager Harold Sealy said Qatar ran out of its supply of Australian live sheep about two weeks ago, and placed an order for 79,000 sheep with suppliers in Sudan, Somalia and Armenia.
Spectacular own goal from the Federal Government and the WA Minister for Agriculture Alannah MacTiernan. Will Sudanese, Somalian or Armenian shippers adhere to Australian best practice?
