Abortion Rights ‘Could Very Well End Up With States at Some Point’, by Pam Key.

On this week’s broadcast of “Sunday Morning Futures,” President Donald Trump hinted at the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade, saying the legality of abortion “could very well end up with states at some point.”

Abortion rights in the US were not decided democratically, but by judges in an obviously specious ruling about the Constitutional — the Roe versus Wade decision by the Supreme Court in 1973. It is a nonsense to say that abortion rights were addressed by the founders of the US Constitution.

Because that decision to legalize abortion lacks legitimacy, it must be revisited. Abortion needs to be voted on by the people, either directly or by their representatives. At state level is appropriate in the US.

Ireland had votes on abortion, most prominently in 1983 to make it illegal and again in 2018 to reverse that decision. The issue is as divisive as ever, but the decisions are legitimate and respected because the people voted.

Leftist inconsistency on this is highlighted by the following exchange seen recently on a political chat board:

Leftist: Banning abortion does not make abortion go away.

Realist: Banning guns does not make guns go away.

Leftist: Yes it does.
