A review of Wolff’s “Fire and Fury”, by Robert Lambourne, a reader of this blog.

I’ve finished the book. I found it hard going, especially in the middle chapters. Wolff’s style is irritating, especially when he is trying to sum up people. He writes long paragraphs full of adjectives which rather numbed my brain.

What hit me the most was how Wolff was allowed so much access to the White House. I don’t think anybody he writes about comes out of it particularly well, but I think Wolff has a soft spot for Bannon who despite a lot of criticism comes out of the book as by far and away the brightest and most savvy of the characters around Trump.

If the book is accurate, and I think in broad terms that it is, then there was virtually open warfare going on between Bannon on one side and Jared Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump on the other.

Bannon is quoted as giving Trump a 33% chance of surviving his full term with a 33% chance of impeachment and a 33% chance of quitting because of the Russian investigation.

Reading it reminded me of just how many major events have happened around Trump in his first year in office.
