Milo Yiannopoulos: Police Minister Lisa Neville says $50,000 bill on the way

Milo Yiannopoulos: Police Minister Lisa Neville says $50,000 bill on the way, by Ed Gardiner.

THE promoters behind Milo Yiannopoulos’ Melbourne event will be hit with a $50,000 bill to cover the cost of police, following Monday night’s violence. …

Police Minister Lisa Neville today told 3AW the event’s promoters would be made to foot the bill, which would be at least $50,000.

Ms Neville said “hundreds” of police were called in to quell the violence. She said billing event organisers for police resources was commonplace. “For these sort of rallies, but also for the AFL and those big events there is an agreement around the costs,” she said.

The left causes the violence, yet it is their victims who must pay. Whatever happened to the idea that the job of the police is to prevent violence? Since when does that involve billing the victims?

Consider the reverse: If a leftist talk was smashed up by a bunch of right wing protestors, would the state bureaucracy hit the left wing groups with a huge bill? Notice how there aren’t any examples of this happening.

So the left is free to force an opposing event into hiding (Milo’s venue was announced only an hour ahead), hassle the attendees, and inflict grievous financial harm on the event. The left is the culprit here, preventing freedoms of speech and association. Yet the state sides with them by hurting their opponents. Must be a leftist bureaucracy making the rules.

Would the police minister be a leftist by any chance? Listen to the tone:

Ms Neville said she was confident Mr Yiannopoulos would cough up. “(It’s a) big call to say you’re going to ignore a bill from Victoria Police,” she said.

Such an unfair and unsatisfactory state of affairs leaves their opponents little choice.
