Australia: Big W omits the word ‘Christmas’ from new Christmas tree range, by Emily Ritchie.
Festive products are already hitting department store shelves the usual three months early, but Big W appears to have made a critical misstep, neglecting to include the word “Christmas” on its range of Christmas trees to the outrage of many disgruntled customers.
The department store’s traditional tree is now called a “Grand Pine Tree”, the snow-coloured version a “White Forest Tree”, with other styles including the “Black Forest Tree”, “Mayfair Tree” and “Atlanta Tree”.
While the packaging is decorated with images of candy canes and mistletoe, the word “Christmas” has been omitted.
