Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that it is his ‘duty’ to stop gay people from getting married in an attempt to ‘reinforce families’ because same-sex couples ‘will not produce any children’. …
He said: ‘And I can tell you this, that as head of state today, I believe it’s my duty to uphold traditional values and family values. But why? Because same-sex marriages will not produce any children.
‘God has decided, and we have to care about birth rates in our country. We have to reinforce families.’ …
Putin also rallied against same-sex adoption in the interview, saying it’s better for children to grow up in ‘traditional’ households. …
The Russian president also insisted that gay people do not face persecution in the country, saying Russia is ‘rather liberal’. …
Putin defended the country’s controversial law on banning dissemination to minors of ‘propaganda’ legitimizing homosexuality, saying ‘the reasoning behind this law is to provide children with the opportunity to grow up without impacting their consciousness’.
Different values. Russia seems to be fairly immune to PC, and they are certainly far more concerned about demographics than the West.
