O’Reilly cited editorials in the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times calling for the abolition of the “antiquated” way the United States of America selects its presidents. While some of these arguments may have a point, the Fox News host argued that the “hidden reason” the Left wants to abolish the Electoral College has nothing to do with progress.
O’Reilly argued that “if the Electoral College were abolished, presidential candidates could simply campaign in the nation’s largest states and cities: New York, L.A., Chicago, Houston — and rack up enough votes to win just about any election.” …
Large population centers generally skew more liberal, so it stands to reason that liberals would prefer a popular vote strategy. …
The Left wants this “because in the large urban areas and blue states like New York and California, minorities are substantial.”
O’Reilly argued that the newspapers calling for the Electoral College abolition “well know that neutralizing the largely white rural areas in the Midwest and South will assure liberal politicians get power and keep it.”
The minority strategy isn’t just political — it’s ideological, the Fox host argued. “The Left views white privilege in America as an oppressive force that must be done away with,” he declared. “Therefore, white working class voters must be marginalized, and what better way to do that than center the voting power in the cities.”
He argued that “the heart of liberalism is race” and that “it permeates almost every issue: that white men have set up a system of oppression and that system must be destroyed.”
O’Reilly summed up the argument in starkly racial terms: “Left wants power taken away from the white establishment, they want a profound change in the way America is run. Taking voting power away from the white precincts is the quickest way to do that.”
A lot of this originates in bad science. The Left believe that all races have similar group characteristics when it comes to IQ — which is highly correlated with economic success, low crime rates, higher educational acheivement, etc. The left see whites (and Asians) out competing others, when a rough equality of opportunity has been in place for decades and racial discrimination has been largely removed and even reversed in direction. Leftists choose not to explain it with biology, despite black-white IQ difference being the best measured topic in all of the social sciences. Higher white average IQ (and even higher north Asian IQ) explains most of white (and Asian) out-performance. Instead the left hypothesize a mysterious “white privilege,” which can only be countered by voting for them. The PC crew hate, hate, hate the notion of IQ for ideological reasons, variously saying it doesn’t exist, or is the same for all groups, or maybe there is no such thing as race. So they demonize psychometrics and force its academics underground or at least to keep very quiet.
For a couple of decades now the left has been selling this white privilege myth. No, just treat people as individuals and recognize the biological reality that the IQ statistics for groups are different: races have different IQ distributions, and so do the sexes (both of them).
Good to see a preeminent political commenter tackle the racist basis of leftist policy, the first part of this scam.
By the way, it worked for the left on sex, because they managed to convince people that males and females have the same IQs and therefore women should hold half of all top positions — anything less was evidence of “sexism”. Not so. Of the whites with IQs at the managerial level of 120 or greater, only 37% are females, and the disparity increases as the IQ threshold increases.
