Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews cuts La Trobe uni from Safe Schools program

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews cuts La Trobe uni from Safe Schools program, by John Ferguson.

The Andrews government has caved in to relentless pressure over its Safe Schools sexual diversity education and anti-bullying program, cancelling its contract with Melbourne’s La Trobe University and cutting loose the policy’s architect, Roz Ward.

The university announced last night that the Safe Schools program would no longer be delivered by it and that the government would take the program in house.

Not enough. The program is designed by Roz Ward — see “Safe” Schools activist Roz Ward conceded the Safe Schools Coalition program is part of a broader Marxist strategy to change society.

The program should be scrapped. As Roz Ward said:

(It’s) not about celebrating diversity; not about stopping bullying.

(It’s) about gender and sexual diversity. About same-sex attractive, about being transgender, about being lesbian, gay, bisexual — say the words — transgender, intersex. Not just, “Be nice to everyone; everyone’s great.”

Our schools are going backwards academically compared to the past and compared to other countries. This sort of highly contested political material, which has the potential to seriously confuse many kids about sex, should not be taught  in schools because it will damage young lives, misinform people about sex, take time away from academic work, and most of all, because it is none of the school’s business — stop filling up our kids with your PC agenda. Hands off our kids!
