Mike Pence BOOED By Audience Then Lectured To By Cast Members At Broadway Play “Hamilton” in New York, by Joe Dziemianowicz.
Members of the audience sparked the battle before the hit musical “Hamilton” began on Friday, jeering Vice-President-elect Mike Pence who had come to see the show.
One of the stars addressed out Pence, the Indiana governor, during the curtain-call, expressing appreciation as well as concern from the hip-hop American history lesson.
“We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us, all of us,” said Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr.
Experts couldn’t recall another case where a Broadway actor addressed an elected official from the stage.
A lecture from the stage because an administration figure attends is breaking new ground, a new front in the culture war. The left has politicized Broadway shows. If it continues then Broadway will suffer as non–PC people turn away in disgust. The left increasingly disrespect all boundaries, because of their competitive virtue signaling and because of their certainty that they are correct (no, they are only politically correct).
Unlike other non-PC leaders, Trump doesn’t take it lying down — he hit back:
“The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence,” Trump posted on Twitter Saturday. “Apologize!”
The bias is enormous:
President and Michelle Obama have embraced and been embraced by Broadway audiences and performers, including by the cast of “Hamilton.”
In 2009 when they went to see August Wilson’s “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone,” people “were standing on top of their chairs clapping for them,” The News reported at the time.
Living inside their information silo of politically correct media and friends, they have no idea that any decent person would disagree with them or that they are factually wrong on, say, climate change.
By the way, have you noticed that PC people rarely have friendships with non-PC people? Once someone goes PC and gets to the stage where they feel they just have to proselytize and judge, and their contempt for non-PC people leaks out, their friendships with non-PC people get put on hold, wither, and die. Which leaves them all the more culturally isolated. In Australia they tend to turn to the ABC for comfort and succor.
UPDATE: Pro-Trump flash mob. No longer lying down in the culture war.
From the comments:
People pay a huge fortune to have unadvertised political whining rammed down their throats by the losers. And they are LOSERS, in every conceivable way. …
Cultural appropriation by arrogant entertainers. …
In days of old people would bring rotten vegetables to stage plays and would shower the stage with them if the performance was not as advertised maybe the patrons should bring back the rotten vegies for this stage play. …
The actor probably violated the terms of his contract with his employer and he should be fired. I would never let anybody who worked for me ambush the Vice President-elect of the United States in front of a crowd. What do the show’s producers think? How about the theater owners? Does his union think this is okay? The silence from the Left regarding this man’s verbal attack on Mike Pence speaks volumes. …
The liberal left is so freaking dense they still don’t get it, we the people have spoken and elected Trump because of who you are and what you represent. Either change your ways, ideals, and mindsets, keep it to yourselves, or starve, because we’ll hit you where it counts….right in the wallet. #boycotthamilton
It used to be said that when a political party suffered a crushing electoral defeat, a period of introspection was appropriate. Don’t try to tell that to today’s Democrats. They have learned nothing, and, in their arrogant presumption, they have no interest in learning anything.
Commenter John Radzilowski:
The rudeness and arrogance are incidental. If you firmly believed that your political opponents were nothing but Nazis and KKKers, would you be polite to them? Of course not. How do you deal with Nazis? You kill them or you capture them and put them on trial. Progressives (let’s not call them liberals) are not at this juncture quite yet but are rapidly heading in that direction. I don’t think people outside the progressive bubble quite understand this yet because if you’re not inside the bubble chances are your political ideology is not the sine qua non of your identity as a human being. One cannot have a rational disagreement with a person for whom all political questions are moral imperatives.
Tonight, libs booed Pence at “Hamilton.” Tonight, HRC sits alone, drinking, blaming men, and sobbing. We win.
For the record, Alexander Hamilton was an immigration hawk who endorsed the Alien and Sedition Acts and wanted to deport troublemakers.
