Le Pens to work with Trump’s campaign manager as Front National support surges, by Vincent Wood.
Stephen Bannon, who helped Trump overcome the odds and claim a resounding victory, has reached out to the French Far right family’s youngest member.
He told French media he believed “France is the place to be, with its young entrepreneurs, women of the family Le Pen” adding that “Marion Maréchal-Le Pen is the new rising star”.
Marion has since expressed her support for the political campaigner and agreed to work with him in the future.
After Mr Trump’s shock win, Marine Le Pen said that his victory showed “great movement across the world. … Nothing is immutable. What has happened this night is not the end of the world, it’s the end of a world.”
And Le Pen’s chief strategist, Florian Philippot, tweeted: “Their world is collapsing, ours is being built.”
Like Trump Ms Le Pen is a populist nationalist and a right wing political outsider. They have similar views on immigration.
Reagan and Thatcher were elected to rein in the excesses of the left on socialism in the West, and restore some semblance of capitalism. Perhaps Trump will be seen as having been elected to rein in the excesses of identity group politics and anti-democratic bureaucratic rule.
