The Week I Became a Target: The Price of Opposing the PC Crew

The Week I Became a Target: The Price of Opposing the PC Crew, by Scott Adams.

This weekend I got “shadowbanned” on Twitter. … it was probably because I asked people to tweet me examples of Clinton supporters being violent against peaceful Trump supporters in public. I got a lot of them. It was chilling.

Late last week my Twitter feed was invaded by an army of Clinton trolls (it’s a real thing) leaving sarcastic insults and not much else on my feed. There was an obvious similarity to them, meaning it was organized.

At around the same time, a bottom-feeder at Slate wrote a hit piece on me that had nothing to do with anything.  … The timing of the hit piece might be a coincidence, but I stopped believing in coincidences this year. …

The one and only speaking gig I had on my calendar for the coming year cancelled yesterday because they decided to “go in a different direction.” I estimate my opportunity cost from speaking events alone to be around $1 million. That’s based on how the rate of offers went from several per month (for decades) to zero this year. Blogging about Trump is expensive. …

Then they started leaving fake book reviews on Amazon to go after my book sales.

Scott Adams has been predicting a Trump win and pointing out that Trump is a marketing genius. No doubt that has earned him the ire of the PC crew.

The Hitler youth really do exist. Here is the amazing phenomenon of a small town type mindset going large on the Internet. Sometime around 2006 the SJWs got mobilized in big numbers, behaving aggressively on the Internet, which we first saw in their support of the carbon dioxide theory of global warming.

Speaking from personal experience, if you publicly oppose the politically correct then they hurt your public standing and hurt you financially. Ultimately this tribalizes society and, with a little evolutionary pressure, ensures their enemies become much tougher, more effective, and tenacious. For example, the standard Republican politician like Romney, Jeb Bush, Rubio, or Cruz is now a pushover for the Democrats and the media … so this year along came Trump.

Our western societies became successful because they became civil, moving away from the winner-take-all politics of the less civilized towards tolerance and classic liberalism. But Islam and politically correct are a big step back towards tribalism, undermining society because many will not support the society in a crisis, and the incentives for striving are much reduced unless you are part of the favored group. Such societies fall and are replaced.

The Western Roman Empire got like this towards the end, with practices such as a new Emperor seizing the estates of his political enemies and their families and selling them to raise money for the state. The West once had rule of law, one law for all, civil society with peaceful handovers of power, and neutral bureaucracies. But this is crumbling now, in the face of the political onslaught from the left as it conducts its long march through the institutions, behaving badly and locking everyone else out of the institutions that it captures.
