At about 10:00am on 7 October, the last Ford Falcon will roll off the assembly line at the company’s soon to be decommissioned Broadmeadows plant in Melbourne’s north. The workers have known this day was coming for more than three years. The automotive industry is braced for worse a year from now, when Holden and Toyota also cease local manufacturing.
