Many tractors already offer automatic steering systems that keep them on precise paths up and down farmers’ fields. But they require a driver to correct for unforeseen obstacles, or drive a machine from its shed into the fields and back.

CNH Industrial NV … cast its completely driverless tractor as a tool to boost productivity and cut down on labour and other costs. An autonomous tractor could theoretically run around the clock.
