The court heard [the Afghan] was angry that Amir had converted to Christianity and launched a near-fatal assault following a series of run-ins. He allegedly called Amir’s conversion “a sin” before launching the brutal assault.
A hadith depicts Muhammad saying: “Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him” (Bukhari 9.84.57). The death penalty for apostasy is part of Islamic law according to all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence.
Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the most renowned and prominent Muslim cleric in the world, … once famously said: “If they had gotten rid of the apostasy punishment, Islam wouldn’t exist today.”
What an amazing insight, from the highest source: without the death penalty for leaving Islam, Islam would no longer exist. A death cult.
