Donald Trump seized on the latest terrorist atrocity in France warning the threat was worsening as he cancelled plans to announce his presidential running mate.

Once again he turned to Twitter to get his message across to his 9.72 million followers: “Another horrific attack, this time in Nice, France. Many dead and injured. When will we learn? It is only getting worse.”

The billionaire mogul, who according to the latest polls is running neck and neck with Hillary Clinton for the presidency, postponed a New York press conference on Friday in which  he was due to name his running mate – widely tipped to be Indiana’s governor, Mike Pence.
