UK Parents stunned as bus full of refugees arrives at school, by Paul Reeves.

‘We were told nothing about it’. It was only because they saw the bus arrive that they became aware a building within the grounds of Overfields primary school in Middlesbrough had been transformed into a refugee welcome centre.

The packed bus arrived on Tuesday afternoon as pupils were being collected from the school and the refugees were whisked into the vacant building owned by Redcar and Cleveland Council.

It came just hours after the Labour-run authority approved plans to allow 125 Syrian refugees a year to move into the area.

The council confirmed the families were being “greeted” at the centre but were unable to confirm whether they represented the first Syrian refugees to arrive on Teesside.
