McCarthyism by the Left Over Climate: Labor Party wants to sack electricity boss over skeptical email he sent in 2009

McCarthyism by the Left Over Climate: Labor Party wants to sack electricity boss over skeptical email he sent in 2009, by Angela Lavoipierre on the ABC.

The left have been bleating for decades about McCarthyism, the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence (although, as it happens, in retrospect and with access to Soviet records, it is now known that virtually all the people accused by Senator Joe McCarthy were in fact communists). The famous question: “Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party of the United States?”

Hypocritically they are now doing the same themselves…to climate skeptics (see yesterday’s post).

Is accidentally sending a climate skeptics handbook to all of your contacts a sackable offence?

NSW Labor reckons so – if you’re the chairman of two state-owned power companies.

Roger Massy-Greene sent the email back in 2009 to hundreds of Australia’s most powerful people, including millionaires, politicians, and senior businesspeople.

Roger Massy-Greene, a Liberal Party donor, is the Chairman of Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy, both owned by the New South Wales Government, and up until recently he was also the Chairman of an umbrella group called Networks NSW.

He was appointed to all three positions by the state Government in 2012. …

The NSW Labor spokesman for Energy, Adam Searle, has described Mr Massy-Greene’s stance as “disturbing” and is calling for him to clarify his views or resign.

“If he is a climate change skeptic then his position as chair of publicly owned electricity businesses is untenable”, says Mr Searle.

“If Mr Massy-Green won’t resign, the Baird Government, which appointed him, needs to sack him.”
