Believing in two genders is a ‘hate crime’, under police investigation at Catholic college. An employee of Loyola Marymount University in LA stated to three students her belief that that only two genders exist, male and female. This, by the way, is also the view of the Roman Catholic Church.
One of the students said that the statement was a hate crime, because it denied transgenderism: ‘you can have your opinion’ as long as it doesn’t ‘deny my existence’. The university’s Bias Incident Response Team and the Los Angeles Police Department are investigating.
The employee who made the offending statement has been suspended by the University, and when she approached her supervisor “to protest the accuracy” of the Loyolan article making accusations, the supervisor “refused to talk to her.” The employee was “in the process of seeking legal counsel” to defend herself and hold LMU accountable for how she was “unfairly treated and summarily dismissed” before she could give her side.
