Trump’s Favorable Rating Rivals Reagan’s in 1980, by Jim Hoft. The latest polls show Trump is viewed unfavorably by 70% of Americans.
Ronald Reagan’s favorable rating was also at 30% back in March 1980. The GOP elites at the time also worried he could never win.
Back in March 1980 the establishment said the same thing about Ronald Reagan. They said he could never defeat Jimmy Carter. He was too divisive.
Reagan trailed Carter by 15 points in February-March 1980.
Not a single poll put Reagan ahead of Carter before the 1980 election, yet Reagan won handily.
By the way, Clinton’s unfavorably rating is 55%, and Cruz’s is 60%.
