Stanford Activists Demand Stanford’s Next President Be Nonwhite and Female or Transgender. A transgender white person would just not be “diverse” enough, nor a cis, black gay man. Another demand: “The development of recurring and comprehensive identity and cultural humility training to be instated as a requirement for all faculty in all departments by September 21st, 2017.” Oh how trendy. Unfortunately this university does tend to be a leader in these matters. When I attended Stanford in the 1980s, activists started agitating to stop making the “Western Civilization” courses compulsory for undergraduates. This was later implemented, then copied nationwide.
