Violence erupts in Melbourne’s CBD as gangs clash in Federation Square and Swanston Street. The mêlée involved scores of youths believed to be members of the Apex and Islander 23 teenage street gangs. This report in The Age omits the information that the Apex gang are Sudanese and the Islander23 gang is of Pacific Islanders (Maoris).
Andrew Bolt notes
This refusal to be frank is misleading readers and leaving them unable to conclude the nature of the threat to public safety.
In fact, check all the reports on the Apex gang. Note how many studiously avoid mentioning one of the most important things about it – that it is made up predominantly of Africans who are refugees or the children of refugees.
Is this an example of the politically correct censorship that the ALA is complaining about?
