Slovakia refuses to accept Muslim migrants

Slovakia refuses to accept Muslim migrants among its quota of 200 migrants, on the grounds that country has “no mosques”. The row came as a mayor in Germany threatened to use emergency powers to seize empty private homes in order to house asylum-seekers.

Meanwhile in Slovakia’s elections, far-right parties have surged, outflanking Robert Fico, the hard-line prime minister who had vowed not to accept a “single Muslim migrant”, in a trend that will gravely alarm Brussels.
